Objectives
• To present the current U.S. National Institutes of Health guidelines for bariatric surgery and discuss whether or not they are applicable to patients with Type 2 diabetes
• To present and discuss the Rome Consensus Conference (Diabetes Surgery Summit) Methods and Position Statement
• To present the International Diabetes Surgery Task Force (IDSTF) members and goals
• To promote consensus recommendations aimed at improving standards of clinical and basic research in diabetes surgery
